“The book is fantastic. I have it all marked up with notes, stickies, and highlights.”
Beth Kanter is immersed in social media, especially how social-change agents can use social media to achieve their goals. We first met Beth about five years ago outside of the Packard Foundation and had a fascinating conversation about how networks can use social media. A few years ago, she coauthored a book The Networked Nonprofit that explored this topic in great detail with numerous telling examples. The framework and explanation were so good that we drew from the book when we wrote Connecting to Change the World . Now Beth has returned the favor by posting an insightful review of our book on her popular blog .
Helping each other freely–exercising generosity and reciprocity–is the key to network building, as we explain in chapter 1. As network members do this, they create a “gift economy” that rewards giving even more. Thanks, Beth, for the gifts you’ve given us.
